Red Suburbs exists to provide crime rates data in Australia. That helps to drive important decisions. We believe that if you buy, rent or travel it is critical to be aware of crime in the area. Our goal is to keep providing such data in an easy-to-understand and accessible format.
Red Suburbs has grown out of a personal project during a search for a new family home. While there were existing mapping solutions, most were providing “raw” crime data. The plain number of crimes isn’t very useful. Major factors like suburb population and the severity of crimes are important too.
Starting as a simple spreadsheet it became obvious that others could use it as well. Created as Crime Map of Queensland, other states data were soon added. Today Red Suburbs is the online Crime Map of Australia that covers 95% of the population.
We provide crime rates by suburb, city, post code and other levels completely for free. Such crime statistics is based on data from state police departments and updated yearly at the end of the financial year.
